GLXP News: Omega Envoy Partners with Florida Space Institute

ORLANDO, FLA., July 10, 2012 (Omega Envoy PR)  — Omega Envoy, the Florida team competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), and its parent company, Earthrise Space Inc. (ESI) are proud to welcome the Florida Space Institute (FSI) as a new partner. FSI will provide critical test and spacecraft integration equipment for the team’s use. This will include the use of a clean room, as well as vacuum and thermal chambers.

“We at the Florida Space Institute support the goals of the Google Lunar X-Prize and are proud to be helping Earthrise Space accomplish its ambitions,” said Florida Space Institute Director Dr. Alan Stern.

GXLP News: Omega Envoy Announces New Partnership

ORLANDO, FLA., July 9, 2012 (Omega Envoy PR) — Omega Envoy, the Florida team competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), and its parent company, Earthrise Space Inc. (ESI), are proud to welcome Global Engineering Management and Support, Inc. (G.E.M.S.) as a new partner. GEMS personnel will work with Omega Envoy students and staff to develop detailed spacecraft testing plans and to use GEMS proprietary technology to conduct critical tests of the team’s lunar spacecraft.

GXLP Update: Omega Envoy Launches Kickstarter Campaign

ORLANDO, FL. (July 5, 2012) – Omega Envoy, the Florida team competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), and its parent company, Earthrise Space Inc (ESI), announce today the launch of a project on Kickstarter.com, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Rewards offered for backers of the project include 3D printed and metal milled models of the team’s lunar rover, tours of ESI’s Orlando facility, opportunities to test drive the team’s actual lunar rover, and the opportunity for individuals to fly their DNA to the moon. The Kickstarter project will raise funding to allow the purchase of a multi-axis CNC milling machine. ESI’s student team will gain hands-on experience using this machine during construction of the company’s lunar spacecraft.

GLXP News: Omega Envoy Adds Florida Institute of Technology as Partner

ORLANDO, FLA. — June 11, 2012 (Omega Envoy PR) — Omega Envoy, the Florida team competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), and its parent company, Earthrise Space Inc. (ESI), are proud to welcome Florida Institute of Technology as a new partner. Professors and students from Florida Tech will work in concert with Omega Envoy staff to design, analyze, build and test the team’s lunar spacecraft.

The Omega Envoy project is run by Earthrise Space, Inc. (ESI), a non-profit research institution dedicated to developing space technology in collaboration with industry and academic institutions. ESI seeks to provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience designing, building, testing and operating real spacecraft. Their efforts provide students with real-world experience that is unavailable to them in the classroom or through internships with large corporations.

GLXP News: Omega Envoy Adds Two New Sponsors

 

ESI PR — Omega Envoy, a non-profit research laboratory that is competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), is proud to announce sponsorships by National Instruments and Solar Made.

National Instruments will provide Omega Envoy with data-acquisition technology that will be used to monitor the Florida-based team’s lander and rover.

Solar Made has provided Omega Envoy with solar cells that will go onto the Florida-based team’s lander and rover. In short, Solar Made is ensuring that Omega Envoy will have all the power it needs for the mission. Earthrise Space Inc. (Omega Envoy’s parent organization) will space qualify some of these systems and test them at the Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS) located in Devon Island in Canada.

Omega Envoy to Test Google Lunar X Prize Rover on Devon Island

PRESS RELEASE

The Omega Envoy Project, the “Florida Team” competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE, and the only student formed and led team, announced during the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) a significant milestone in their progress towards the moon: a realistic demonstration of core rover technologies.

In collaboration with 4Frontiers Corporation and the National Space Society, the team is sending their rover prototype to the Mars Society’s Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS) on Devon Island for the month of July 2009.
