VIENNA, Austria (MVA PR) – By the Resolution 74/82 adopted by the General Assembly of the UN on 13 December 2019, at its 47th plenary meeting, the Moon Village Association (MVA) has been granted the observer status with the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS).
The 57th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of UN COPUOS, which took place in Vienna on February 3 – 14, 2020, marked the first participation of MVA as an observer to UN COPUOS.(more…)
VIENNA, Austria (MVA PR) – On 6 February 2020, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), represented by ROSA President, Dr. Phys. Marius- Ioan Piso, and the Moon Village Association (MVA), a non-governmental organisation based in Vienna, represented by President Dr. Giuseppe Reibaldi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). VIENNA, Austria, November 19, 2019 (MVA PR) — The Moon Village Association (MVA) announces the winners of the Moon Village Principles – Mission Prize 2019.
In December 2018, the Moon Village Association (MVA) had published a new concept named the “Moon Village Principles”. The Moon Village Principles represent a clear statement of the MV Association’s vision of how missions and other activities focused on the Moon, might most effectively contribute to realization of the Moon Village concept. This includes key areas such as acquiring knowledge of the Moon, establishing standards, proving important technologies, engaging the public and others.(more…)
Vienna, Austria – (October 18, 2019) – The Moon Village Association (MVA) and Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO) are pleased to announce that they have formed a strategic partnership and signed an MoU. With this MoU, the two entities aspire to strengthen their bond and their cooperation in the space sector.
This agreement between the MVA and CSEO will lead to the enhancement and progress of their common goals regarding the development of the Moon Village and promote the field of space exploration as well as developing numerous space initiatives.(more…)
Vienna, Austria – (September 12, 2019) – The Moon Village Association (MVA) aims to encourage peaceful, co-operative global exploration and settlement of the Moon. The general public is an important stakeholder of the MVA, so proposing activities that interest and inspire global citizens is a major step in getting them involved.
The MVA is now pursuing this aim through the development and launch of payloads to the lunar surface, fostering global cooperation and inspiring the public.
The first payload the MVA has chosen to develop will consist of one or more cameras delivered to the surface of the Moon. In addition to other scientific and commercial instruments, the camera(s) will have a significant cultural objective: they will look back at our planet with the goal to allow people from anywhere on Earth to experience the famous “Overview Effect.” The images will be distributed via the MVA website.(more…)
