Galileo Navigation Satellites in Place for Dec. 2 Launch From French Guiana

KOUROU, French Guiana (ESA PR) — Europe’s next two Galileo satellites have been attached to the dispenser on which they will ride to orbit, and the launcher fairing that will protect them during the first part of the ascent to orbit has been closed around the pair.

Galileo satellites 27 – 28 are scheduled to be launched by Soyuz launcher from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana on 2 December at 01:31 CET (1 December at 21:31:27 local Kourou time).

EUSPA Launches #myEUspace Competition, More Space for EU Innovation and Entrepreneurs

PRAGUE (EUSPA PR) — The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) launches myEUspace competition. The EU prize contest targets innovators and entrepreneurs ready to explore, develop and commercialise innovative solutions that leverage EU Space data and services, going beyond the current space-applications horizon, and fusing and testing new technologies in location-based services, smart mobility, smart agriculture, geomatics, and for the first-time, quantum technologies.

Building on the success of the previous competitions and with an amplified scope of activities, the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) announces the launch of myEUspace competition. The increased availability of space-based data and services and the evolution of mobile and computing technologies are pushing the bar of innovation higher allowing for the development of more ambitious applications that rely on Galileo’s accurate positioning paired with Earth observation data generated by Copernicus, while exploring new opportunities from Quantum technologies.

ESA, European Union Sign New Partnership Agreement on Joint Space Programs

PARIS (ESA PR) — After months of constructive negotiations, ESA and EU signed today a new Financial Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA) in a ceremony to celebrate the launch of the new EU space programme.   

This will mark a fresh start for space activities in Europe and represents an important step forward in the relationship between ESA and EU. It is also one of the top priorities of Agenda 2025, the roadmap of ESA’s Director General Josef Aschbacher.

“This is a major achievement for ESA, recognised for its scientific excellence and technical expertise in designing space systems and ground facilities for the benefit of European citizens,” said ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher.

European Union Space on New Trajectory with Launch of EUSPA

PRAGUE (EUSPA PR) — The European Union Agency for the Space Programme, EUSPA, is launched today marking the start of a new era for EU Space. Building on the legacy of the European GNSS Agency, EUSPA will take on more responsibilities to create even more opportunities from Space for EU citizens and its economy.

The adoption of the Regulation establishing the new EU Space Programme on April 27 marks a new beginning for the EU Space Programme and for the European GNSS Agency (GSA), which has now officially evolved into EUSPA, with an expanded mandate and new responsibilities.
