Axelspace, JAXA Sign MOU on Creation of Small Optical Satellite Constellation

TOKYO (JAXA PR) — Axelspace Corporation (Representative Director: Tomoya Nakamura) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Chairman: Hiroshi Yamakawa, JAXA) are JAXA Space Innovation Partnership (J-SPARC). ) (*1), a memorandum of understanding was signed in December 2020 for the solution business using the small optical satellite constellation (*2), and together, “business concept co-creation activities” to create new business value. Through this initiative, we will consider cultivating the use of new satellite-mounted sensors, utilizing satellite data in the future, and linking small satellites and large satellites in observation missions.

ASPINA Pioneers New Business Development by Entering Key Component Market for Small Satellites

Strategy targets private businesses in communication services, Earth observation and other areas that are expected to grow rapidly

UEDA CITY, Japan, Nov. 2, 2020 (ASPINA PR) — ASPINA  (Shinano Kenshi Co., Ltd., with headquarters in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan  hereinafter ASPINA) is working on the development of “Reaction Wheels,” a key component used for attitude control for small satellites that utilize the technology of precision motor related products and is expected to grow globally in “small size satellites led by the private sector”.

We aim to commercialize our contribution to the “satellite market.”  This project has been adopted by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) as the 2020 “Space Industry Technology Information Infrastructure Development Research and Development Project.”
