Agreement Between Amazon Web Services and AEB Rewards Brazilian Startups

Event within the SpaceBR Show was the first action within the scope of the Term of Strategic Intent and Cooperation signed between the institutions

BRASILIA (Brazilain Space Agency PR) — On the third day of the SpaceBR Show, there was a competition between eight startups in the space sector, which were selected among 21 registered, by professionals from the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), based on the degree of adherence to the space theme, to participate in pitches with Agency and AWS jurors. The event was the result of a Term of Strategic Intent and Cooperation signed between AEB and Amazon Web Services (AWS), which had as one of its objectives to foster entrepreneurship and disruption between companies in the space sector.

“We have been emphatic in saying that Brazil is one of the few countries capable of acting in all segments of the space sector. We have infrastructure, we have a consumer market, we have a creative people. For all of this to turn into a thriving space economy, we have to engage in global value chains. The partnership with AWS and the incentive for startups are part of this joint effort by the Brazilian space sector”, said AEB President Carlos Moura.

Brazilian Space Agency and Amazon Web Service Sign Strategic Intent Statement

The objective is to support long-term growth in the regional space sector

BRASILIA, Brazil (AEB PR) — The Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) signed a Term of Strategic Intent and Cooperation. The initiative, with which the Brazilian Embassy in Washington also collaborated, is the first of its kind for AWS in Latin America and will support innovation and continued growth in the country’s space industry.

AEB plays an important role in the Latin American context, being responsible for a wide variety of space activities related to space transport, satellites, research and applications. AEB has supported the strengthening of the Brazilian infrastructure for rocket launch, production and exploration of space systems. It also supports educational and research activities in astronautical and related sciences. In addition, AEB is a bilateral partner of NASA in ionospheric research and a signatory to the Artemis Agreements for the joint exploration of the Moon.

D-Orbit Announces AWS Ground Station Integration with AURORA Mission Control Software

Uses AWS to help manage complex missions for D-Orbit ION satellite carriers, downlink and process data from multiple satellites, and enable bi-directional communication between D-Orbit’s satellites and Aurora

Lisbon, Portugal, July 22nd, 2021 – D-Orbit, a leader in the space logistics and transportation service industry and an Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology partner, today announced integration of AWS Ground Station with D-Orbit’s AURORA cloud-based mission control software. D-Orbit uses AWS Ground Station to power AURORA, manage increasingly complex missions for D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier such as the ongoing PULSE mission, and strengthen the D-Orbit space transportation and logistics infrastructure. D-Orbit also plans to use AWS Ground Station with AURORA to communicate with its WILD RIDE mission, launched on June 30th, and with D-Orbit’s future fleet.

Amazon Web Services Announces Space Accelerator

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a space accelerator to assist startups in the industry. The company described the new program in a blog post:

The AWS Space Accelerator is a four-week business support program that is open to space startups seeking to use AWS to help solve the biggest challenges in the space industry. Applications are open today and proposals are due by April 21, 2021.

The AWS Space Accelerator will provide technical, business, and mentoring resources to space startups around the globe. AWS is offering this opportunity in collaboration with Seraphim, one of the world’s leading investment groups focused exclusively on the space industry, who will provide business development and investment guidance. AWS and Seraphim will select a cohort of space startups to participate in an intensive, four-week program with AWS Cloud and technical training to help them accelerate research, development, and growth using AWS. Seraphim, has helped dozens of emerging space companies around the world become investment ready through its own space accelerator program.
