TITUSVILLE, Fla. (A4H PR) – Astronauts for Hire (A4H) would like to congratulate six of its members for completing the inaugural PoSSUM Scientist-Astronaut Qualification Program that was held from February 7-10, 2015 at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Project PoSSUM announced today that all graduation requirements for these candidates have been met.

NewSpace Researchers Workshop Set for May 4 in Houston

Held in conjunction with the Sea, Earth, and Space (SES) Summit, this event will provide a unique opportunity for researchers to develop successful research campaigns for parabolic, suborbital, or orbital flights. Astronauts4Hire Announces Commercial Astronaut Training Programs

Palo Alto, California (A4H PR) – After more than a year of development, Astronauts for Hire (A4H) is proud to announce its proposed training programs for Research Specialist Astronauts and Operations Specialist Astronauts. Astronauts4Hire to Test New Biometric Monitoring System

Tampa, Florida – Astronauts4Hire and partner company Vital Space will test a new biometric monitoring system designed for use by spaceflight participants on a May 2012 reduced gravity parabolic flight campaign in Houston, Texas.

They will undergo up to four flights with 40 parabolas each granting 25 seconds of near zero-gravity. The project is facilitated by NASA’s Flight Opportunities Program, to which Vital Space and Astronauts4Hire submitted a successful joint proposal chosen by NASA in October 2011 titled, “A demonstrated application of a cost effective and novel platform for non-invasive acquisition of physiologic variables from spaceflight participant candidates.”

Astronauts4Hire Granted 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status

A4H PR – Tampa, Florida –Astronauts4Hire is proud to announce it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions donated to Astronauts4Hire are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization on April 12, 2010. Astronauts4Hire is also now eligible to apply for government and foundation grants, which will further broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to serve the commercial spaceflight industry.

Astronauts4Hire Teams With Survival Systems USA

Astronauts4Hire Names New Commercial Scientist-Astronaut Candidates

A4H PR — Astronauts4Hire is pleased to announce the selection of its third class of commercial scientist-astronaut candidates. The nine new recruits were selected through a rigorous process that included consultation with former NASA astronauts.

“The selection process was painstaking,” said Astronauts4hire Vice President and Membership Chair Jason Reimuller. “We received numerous applications and over the course of a month had to chose only a handful of applicants who showed just the right balance of professional establishment, broad technical and operational experience, and a background that indicates adaptability to the spaceflight environment.”

Astronauts4Hire Complete Space Beer Test in Micro-G

A4H PR – Orlando, Florida – Astronauts4Hire has completed its inaugural paid contract to test the world’s first beer designed for consumption in space. The experiment, which marks humanity’s first formal study on alcohol absorption in microgravity, took place aboard a parabolic trajectory microgravity flight out of Cape Canaveral, Florida operated by Zero Gravity Corporation (ZERO-G). Yesterday’s flight was the first in a series of microgravity flights qualifying the beer recipe for consumption in space, funded in part by sales of the beverage on Earth.

Have you ever wanted to be an astronaut? Do you have specialized scientific, engineering, or operational experience relevant to human spaceflight? Now is your chance to make your dreams come true! Astronauts4Hire is seeking candidates to expand its cadre of prospective commercial astronauts. Applications are due February 5, 2011 for full consideration in this selection cycle.

“Astronauts4Hire continues to grow along with the emerging private spaceflight sector,” says its President Brian Shiro. “We need more motivated, highly competent flight members to help build the organization and train for payload operation on upcoming missions.”

Flight members are the “astronauts for hire” who are eligible to receive training support from the organization and be hired for flight jobs, including parabolic trajectory microgravity research flights. Astronauts4Hire’s training program is designed to develop flight candidates for both suborbital flights, such as those that will soon be provided by Virgin Galactic and XCOR, and for orbital flights such as those envisioned by companies like SpaceX.

Individuals interested in becoming flight members can submit their application via the Astronauts4Hire website, http://www.Astronauts4Hire.org/p/join.html, before February 5, 2011. Finalists will be asked to provide an FAA Class 3 flight physical and verification of their academic credentials within 90 days of selection. Selections will be announced at the Next-Generation Suborbital Researchers Conference in Orlando, Florida by March 2, 2011.
