The first place winner, Flagsuit, LLC, received a $5,000 cash prize courtesy of the Heinlein Trust and will have the opportunity to present their vision to entrepreneurs and investors alike at Space Investment Summit 7 on September 30th in Boston and attend an upcoming Space Angels Network event.

The Space Frontier Foundation will host a business plan competition during its NewSpace 2009 Conference at NASAâ€™s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, July 17-20, to help entrepreneurs creating NewSpace startup firms.
A team from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston has won the Microgravity Research Competition for an experiment into how to develop better medicines using microgravity.
The means to save the Earth? End hunger? Cure diseases? Among the entrants to this competition is the potential to reap enormous benefits all of us on Earth, and for our planet itself.
Three finalists in the Microgravity Research Competition, sponsored by The Heinlein Prize Trust, SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies), and the Rice Alliance have been chosen. This competition gives student researchers an exciting opportunity to advance their projects in the ultimate laboratoryâ€”in Low Earth Orbit in the microgravity environment of a private spacecraft, the SpaceX Dragon.
Heinlein Prize Trust Press Release
The Heinlein Prize Trust announces the Microgravity Research Competition to reward innovation in the use of microgravity to advance biotech, nanotech, combustion, metallurgy, and other fields. Sponsored by the Trust and Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), the competition offers a $25,000 prize and transportation to and from Low Earth Orbit for the winning experiment aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.
