The launch of the Tiantong-1 02 satellite was developed by the Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and is an important part of the Tiantong-1 satellite mobile communication system.
The system is composed of space segment, ground segment and user terminal. After the Tiantong-1 02 enters orbit, it will be networked and operated with the Tiantong-1 01 satellite to form a space segment.
During its orbiting period, the Tiantong-1 02 satellite will expand the coverage of countries in the “Belt and Road” region on the basis of covering China’s land (including maritime).
The Tiantong-1 satellite is a satellite mobile communication system independently developed and constructed by China, and it is also an important part of the country’s space information infrastructure.
On August 6, 2016, the Tiantong-1 01 satellite developed by the Communications Satellite Division of the Fifth Academy was successfully launched. This is the first satellite of China’s country’s satellite mobile communications system and is also known as the “Chinese version of maritime satellite”, marking China’s entry into an the era of satellite mobile communication phones. Tiantong-1 02 will serve the construction of the “One Belt One Road”, providing all-weather, all-day, stable and reliable mobile communication services for users in China and surrounding areas, the Middle East, Africa and other related regions, as well as most of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and support voice , SMS and data services.
As the demand for mobile satellite services develops, international mobile satellite systems have formed multiple global or regional mobile communication systems, including the Iridium satellite system, the Celaya system and the International Mobile Communication Satellite System. According to Chen Mingzhang, chief designer of Tiantong-1 02, the satellite mobile communication system mainly provides diversified medium and low rate communication services for miniaturized mobile terminals (including ground personal mobile terminals, vehicle terminals, airborne terminals, and shipborne terminals). .
Compared with terrestrial mobile communication systems, satellite mobile communication has a wide coverage area and good environmental adaptability. It can achieve almost seamless coverage in areas such as oceans, mountains and plateaus, and meets the needs of various users for mobile communication coverage. According to the survey and statistics of relevant departments, the demand for various satellite mobile terminal users in China will exceed three million by 2025.
