Video: SpaceX Completes Crew Dragon In-flight Abort Test

The test appeared to go as planned. Liftoff was at 10:30 a.m. EST. The capsule separated, deployed its parachutes and splashed down about 20 miles off shore. The spectacular explosion of the Falcon 9 booster was expected. Recovery efforts are ongoing.

Engineers will study the capsule, parachutes and data now to make sure everything went as planned. If there were no show stoppers, the next flight will carry crew to the International Space Station.

There is a press conference with SpaceX and NASA officials scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EST that will be streamed live on the NASA website. Your local time may vary.
