A Thank You to My Readers

GOES-16 captured this view of the moon as it looked above the surface of the Earth on January 15. Like earlier GOES satellites, GOES-16 will use the moon for calibration. (Credits: NOAA/NASA)

This is post number 19,000. Yes, that’s a 1 and a 9 followed by three 0’s. I can’t quite believe it myself.

Yes, I know. There’s probably 18,900 press releases. But, I think there’s some good reporting and analysis in there as well.

I know 19,000 is an odd milestone, but it’s going to take probably 8 months to get to 20K. So, I decided to mention something now.

I would just like to thank you, my readers, for sticking with me over the past 11 years, and for your financial support along the way.  It has been much appreciated.

On to the next milestone, 20K, which I imagine I’ll reach in about 8 or 9 months.

Congratulations. And don’t apologize for the press releases. The majority of them are quite interesting. At one time I edited a trade magazine and once also worked as an editor for a PR distribution network. Sorting through the avalanche of releases that come in over the transom every day to pick out the “keepers” is no brief or easy task. Nor is compensating for the grammatical shortcomings and sometimes borderline incomprehensibility of the text delivered by clients and agencies. Thanks for doing all that so we don’t have to. Press on to 20,000!

Great. Keep up the good work. I don’t know if it is good or bad but Disqus says I have just passed 1000 comments.

Doug, thanks for the commitment to covering the private space industry. ParabolicArc is a “not-to-be-missed” daily read for me and the best source I’ve found for staying up to date on all the amazing things going on in the field. Congratulations on your 19,000 post achievement! There should be a big party at the Mojave Air & Space Port to mark your 20K milestone!
