MOSCOW (RSC Energia) — Today on April 7 the first in Russia Center for Virtual Design of Spacecraft and Modules was opened at Rocket and Space Corporation Energia.
The Center will allow engineers and technologists with 3D glasses to enter a virtual spacecraft or module and work in artificially created digital space using the latest technologies.
RSC Energia General Director Vladimir SOLNTSEV said: The opening of the Center is a step forward for designers, technologists and specialists of working professions. It will speed up the process of creating new rocket and space technology without loss of quality and reduce labour costs. We’ll develop new spacecraft and modules.
The developers working at the Virtual Design Center will be able to simulate solutions for a variety of tasks including integration of the complex onboard equipment into the interior of modules or laying the cables connecting dozens of devices.
The Center’s equipment includes three graphics stations, a 3D-projector with a screen, a virtual reality helmet and 15 sets of glasses. Thus, if necessary, up to 16 specialists can work at the Center simultaneously. The proposed virtual design technology has no analogues in Russia and will allow more efficient development of the advanced models of rocket and space technology.
