15 years to develop and test to this point.
What is interesting is that going forward, pretty much everything that they do, involves making history.
The FH will be the largest re-usable rocket in history. And I would not be surprised if at some point, they add an octopus to it to make it bigger than the current SLS.
Dragon? Landing without parachutes? No throw away abort system? All new.
Dragon being able to land on Mars? Again, history.

Then we have BFR, along with their massive sat network coming in several years. Ideally, their sat network will work on both sides. Basically, it would be nice if their sat network had antennas pointing outward and could receive deep space signals. esp if they receive laser signal.

How many times Elon thought that their first assumptions 15 years ago was wrong along this time? He has an incredible fortitude.

They sell three falcon 9’s for a new launches … then put the three used cores together and use them to send a used dragon 2 off to Mars…. They will be able to do these Red Dragon missions relatively inexpensively.

  • You are right. The can’t use all three though, the center core in FH is designed differently. They can have used cores as side boosters though.
