Do you like space?
Do you have strong opinions about space?
Then Uncle Esa wants you!**
PARIS (EU PR) — Do you want the opportunity to have your say in suggesting priorities in European space programmes?
Well, now you have the chance, because on 10 September 2016, over 2000 citizens from 22 European countries will participate in the first ever Citizens’ Debate on Space for Europe. Never before has the future of space activities been addressed in such an event held across so many countries.
In the course of the day, if you’re lucky enough to be selected, you’ll have the opportunity to learn, debate and participate in suggesting priorities on all aspects of current and future European space programmes.
This consultation on an unprecedented scale will take place simultaneously in all 22 ESA Member States, with around 100 people from each country gathered at various locations. The results of the consultation will be collated – as early as 48 hours after the debate takes place – and communicated to ESA.
ESA Director General Jan Woerner emphasised his commitment to ESA further engaging in a dialogue with European citizens and said, “Spaceflight, space science, exploration, Earth observation, telecommunication, satellite navigation, space technology and innovation can all help respond to societal challenges and be a source of inspiration to future generations. European citizens can help us better assess our priorities.”
You only have until 28 August to sign up, so check our website and join the debate!
* Offer not valid in ESA associate and cooperating states. Check www.esa.int for the status of your country.
** If you’re lucky enough to be selected. Participation numerically limited.
