STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Spaceport Sweden PR) — On Friday, we launched ”Destination: Space” a national strategy for space tourism produced by 70+ partners from aerospace, tourism, academia and agencies. Sweden is well positioned to become a world leading space destination with world unique experiences, related services, training, research and technology transfer that can accelerate industries and activities on Earth.
Astronaut Christer Fuglesang, KTH Space Center, Mats Lindgren, CEO Kairos Future and Karin Nilsdotter, CEO Spaceport Sweden held a the well attended press meeting at KTH Royal Institute of Technology presenting the strategy, on Friday 18th of September 2015.
By capitalising on 60 years as leading European space nation, a 100 years as an industrial pioneer and its position as an environmental champion and government leadership, Sweden can realize the potential of a high-tech and innovative billion dollar industry.
An initiative which will strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness and contribute to enhanced innovation capability across both the aerospace and tourism sectors as well as technology transfer to other industires promoting more sustainable solutions and regional growth.
The agenda was supported by Sweden’s innovation agency, VINNOVA, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency, within Swedish Strategic Innovation Areas with the purpose to create conditions for international competitiveness as well as to find sustainable solutions to global challenges for societies.
