SpaceX has lost a round in its fight against two class action lawsuits:

A California judge on Monday rejected Space Exploration Technologies Corp.’s bid to shut down a pair of putative class actions alleging it laid off hundreds of workers without a state-mandated warning, tossing defamation claims but ruling the plaintiffs had sufficiently pled their labor law claims.

The two suits both contended that SpaceX had ordered the mass layoffs of between 200 and 400 workers in July 2014 without giving advance notice to the them, in violation of California’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

The layoffs were done last year.
