Brightman & Takamatsu Complete First Day of Cosmonaut Training

MOSCOW (Roscosmos PR) — Today in the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (GCTC) the famous British actress, songwriter and dancer Sarah Brightman and Japanese advertising guru Satoshi Takamatsu began their spaceflight training.

Ms. Brightman will became the participant of the flight and Mr. Takamatsu will be her backup. On Jan. 19, they were introduced to the experts of GCTC. Spaceflight participants will be prepared by the regular training schedule. During the next 6 months, they will learn more about systems of Soyuz TMV (transported manned vehicle), which will deliver them to the station, as well as the Russian modules of ISS.

In addition, they will be trained to survive in a case of emergency landing in a far-distant regions. Moreover, spaceflight participants should be told about first-aid and scientific experiments on board. Of course, they will study Russian to communicate with other cosmonauts on board.

Ms. Brightman noted that she is very glad to become a part of the space program and to start her training. She also expressed her appreciation to everybody who will be involved in her preparation. She promised to do her best to be sufficiently trained to become a member of ISS crew. Answering question, Ms. Brightman said that she is going to be the first actress in space and that she will sing from aloft.

The lift off of the Soyuz TMA-18 with cosmonaut Sergei Volkov, astronaut Andreas Mogensen and spaceflight participant Sara Brightman is scheduled on the September 2015.
