Brevard County, Fla., October 4, 2012 (EDC PR) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast’s powerful, information-packed brochure touting Brevard County’s competitive advantages in technology, work force, quality of life and other areas received a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council.

The EDC’s 10-page brochure, “Florida’s Space Coast: America’s High Tech Titan,” competed against materials from the nation’s largest economic development organizations. The award was presented this week at the IEDC Annual Conference in Houston, Texas.

“These awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs, marketing materials and leaders, and we are honored to be among the select handful of winners this year,” said Paul Hanson, chairman of the EDC Board of Directors. “The Space Coast can stand with any community in the nation because of its skilled workers, its rich scientific and technological heritage and its quality of life, and it is only fitting that the marketing materials highlighting our region are the best of the best, as well.”

The EDC’s marketing and policy development team identified the Space Coast’s unique strengths, developed the brochure concept and tagline (“America’s High Tech Titan”), wrote the copy, researched rankings and statistics from credible sources, and identified illustrative photos.

Designed as both hard copy and electronic versions, the EDC’s brochure has earned high marks from the Space Coast’s business community. And in highlighting the Space Coast’s unique advantages, the brochure has contributed to recent business attraction and expansion successes.

“We recognize the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast for creating innovative and successful strategies to promote economic development in this period of global recovery,” said Jay Moon, IEDC chairman. “Our awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in communities. The EDC of Florida’s Space Coast demonstrates that they are at the forefront of the economic development profession and are using cutting-edge, effective practices that can be replicated in other communities.”
