UPDATE: Multiple sources confirm that WhiteKnightTwo conducted a captive carry test late last week with SpaceShipTwo beneath it. More details as they become available.
Editor’s Note: You’ll note that these two flights occurred on a Saturday, which is unusual. The word around Mojave is that when Scaled does testing on the weekends, it’s usually so that others at the airport won’t see what they’re doing. I don’t know if that was the case here or not, but the timing is interesting.
WhiteKnightTwo was also seen flying over the airport on Sunday, June 3. There’s no listing for that flight on the Scaled website yet.
Another interesting aspect is that the Mojave Mile was taking place on both days. This is an event for which people pay to race down the 12,500 foot runway as fast as they can. It’s unusual to schedule major testing on days when such an event is going on, especially if you don’t want people to see what you are doing.
