  • ATK is providing the safest design and most reliable system by bringing together flight-proven subsystems, designed from inception, to meet NASA’s human-rating requirements.

Whatever I may think of the Liberty design, I’m glad that ATK is moving it forward as a commercial option. That way it’ll live or die on its own merits, not the usual arbitrary decisions about jobs, export restrictions, or political grandstanding.

ATK also went up a notch in my opinion by choosing Spacevidcast as the live media outlet for this announcement. That, more than any ‘commercial’ buzzwords, indicates they’re thinking seriously about the future of space settlement and the people who are making it happen.

I completely agree with Chris on this. Having a major company choosing spacevidcast for streaming such an event is a good sign.

In addition I always liked the fact that they work with Astrium on the project for some long overdue transatlantic launcher cooperation.

It does? Errr, I was under the impression they hadn’t flown so much as a test flight, let alone built, let alone flown, a capsule. Seems somewhat premature to declare victory in a battle, when your ship hasn’t even been built.
