Video: Masten’s Xaero Vehicle Flies to 61 Meters

Comment

Video Caption: Upon completion of Xaero’s free flight hover earlier this month, she performed yet another successful free flight to an altitude of 61 meters on February 17th, 2012. The exterior view of the flight reveals a bobble at apogee, as well as a slight rocking motion after touchdown. Despite these imperfections, the flight was a complete success, with all test objectives reached or exceeded.

    Looks good.
    - Needs to be more stable on landing. It almost fell over.
    - Next double its size, lift capacity, add more fuel. Then fly it up 20 miles fly around and come back down.
    - Next do the same 3 more times.
    - Next fly it up to 100 miles fly around and come back down.
    - Next do 2 orbits and come back down. Then since you’ve proven all the concepts and designs its time to get serious.
    - Do a joint venture with Bigelow Aerospace or Spacex Corp.
