Space Needle, Space Adventures Launch Suborbital Space Trip Competition

Space Adventures is teaming with the Space Needle to send a lucky winner into space to celebrate the 50th anniversary next year of the famous structure that graces the Seattle skyline. It’s an interesting competition: there will be 1,000 entrants picked randomly in December who will compete in a separate “skill-based competition” to win a suborbital spaceflight worth $110,000 on an unspecified vehicle. There are no details on precisely what the competition will entail other than they will include “various tests and challenges” to be conducted throughout December.

Grand Prize

Enter to win and you could be 1 of 1000 entries randomly selected to compete in the Space Race 2012 Competition to win a trip to space. Entry deadline: November 30, 2011

The “Space Race 2012 Competition” (“Competition”) is a skill-based competition that will begin as early as December 1, 2011 and will conclude no later than December 31, 2012….Contestants will be eliminated from the Competition based on Sponsor’s evaluation of performance in various tests and challenges as the Competition progresses.

Winner will receive one seat on a suborbital spaceflight arranged or secured by Space Adventures, Ltd. (“SA”). SA shall schedule the date of the Spaceflight as suborbital Spaceflight becomes available at which time the prize will be awarded. ARV of the Spaceflight itself is $110,000.

Winner will receive round-trip air travel for one person from the major commercial airport nearest winner’s residence to the major commercial airport nearest the departure point of the Spaceflight. Note, Spaceflight may not be in U.S.

First Prize: 1 lucky winner winner will receive a seat aboard G-Force One for a Zero Gravity experience.
