Russia and China prepare joint space projects. These days, the projects are being discussed in Beijing by Roscosmos Head Anatoly Perminov and Sun Laiyan, Administrator of the Chinese Space Administration.
New bilateral space cooperation program is supposed to be accepted as a result of these negotiations.
Vesti clarifies that China pays special attention to exploration of the Moon. Initial joint steps of Russia and China in this area were made in 2006.
Anatoly Perminov, Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency, explains more about it: “We reviewed the new program which would cover 2010-2012. The core of this program is based on individual projects and topics with the goal to achieve more serious ones. For expample, completion of the Phobos-Grunt project. It is to finalize in October. Completion of this work will provide much for the world space business.”

Anatoly Perminov, Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency, arrived in Beijing today. He will take part in the 10-th meeting of Russian-Chinese Subcommitee on Space Cooperation. From Chinese party, Sun Laiyan, Administrator of the Chinese Space Administration, is involved in the work of the Subcommitee.
The first meeting of the Space Subcommitee took place in Beijing 10 years ago (May 25-26, 2000). So, the current meeting can be considered as a jubilee one.
Sigificant number of objectives have been achieved within these 10 years. 84 contracts on 55 major topics have been signed in the framework of practical cooperation between Russian and Chinese Space Agencies starting from 2000.
New cooperation progam is intended to be approved as a result of the 10th Subcommitee`s meeting. The program will define further space cooperation ways for Russia and China for the upcoming years. Special attention is paid to the joint long-term projects of scientific and application nature.
During the negotiations between President of the Russian Federation D.A.Medvedev and Chairman of the People`s Republic of China Hu Jintao, which took place in Moscow on June 15, successful evolution of Russian-Chinese space cooperation was noted.

Seeing more cooperation between these two countries would be really cool. Especially some sort of joint Russian-Chinese space station or lunar base.
