Nair: Moon Mission Only the Beginning of India’s Conquest of Space


‘Space travel an integral part of ISRO’s future programmes’

Space travel would be an integral part of the Indian Space Research
Organisation (ISRO)’s future mission programmes, including sending man to the Moon, the agency’s Chairman G Madhavan Nair on Friday said.

The country’s first moon voyage Chandrayaan-1 had completed its mission and it was a success, Nair said at a function here. “The moon mission was only a beginning and we have to accomplish many things with regard to space research and space travel programme.”

Appreciating the efforts of Indian scientists, he said the country had attained self-sufficiency in space technology due to hard work of its scientists.

For realising various projects lined by the organisation, government support — both of the state and the Centre — was essential, Nair said while receiving the Mohammed Abdurahiman Sahib National Award.
