Griffin says he turned down several better-paying university president positions to take the UA-Huntsville professorship because he wasn’t interested in fund raising.
However, money certainly has been the biggest topic that’s surrounded Griffin’s hiring in a time when educators around the state are facing cuts.
“I’m sorry there has been controversy,” said Griffin. “There wasn’t any controversy among the University Trustees, the ones who are charged with the welfare of the university. I think given my background and experience and my years in this business and the overall space community, that I’m easily worth what I cost.”
