Delia insists that staging a wedding in space isn’t pie in sky!

The bride and groom-to-be have made tentative enquiries about exchanging their wedding vows in space – when Sir Richard Branson’s latest venture, the Virgin Galactic spaceship, goes into orbit in 2010.
And, despite specialising in quirky wedding locations in recent years, even local award-winning travel agent, Delia Aston, was slightly taken aback at this latest request from the couple who are now living in Australia.
However, Delia, who runs the Clubworld travel agencies in Portadown, Lurgan and Banbridge, was quick to make enquiries and has revealed that the cost is slightly more than the average wedding and hotel reception in Northern Ireland.
“The cost to tie the knot in Space Voyager Class is £140,184,” said Delia. “Our wedding specialist, Claire Mulligan, and I are currently liaising with Elegant Resorts, the agent for Virgin Galactic who own and operate the privately built spaceships. It is a genuine enquiry and we are all very excited about it. ”
