And Now For Something Completely Different (About Someone Other Than Elon Musk)….

Comment

If you’ve grown a bit weary of Elon Musk’s nearly ceaseless self promotional campaign for himself and SpaceX (in that order, probably), then take a gander over at OrbitalHub.com. There is a full description of Orbital Science Corporation’s entry into NASA’s COTS competition, the Taurus II booster and its Cygnus spacecraft, which are designed to deliver cargo to the International Space Station.

It will be interesting to see how well Orbital Sciences does with this project. Of the two companies, it has the most experience in launching things into space. They’re much quieter about it all than their upstart rival, far less prone to making public claims every other day about how competitive they are or how they’re going to send people to Mars for peanuts.  I think the experience makes them more cautious. I find it somewhat refreshing. No, extremely refreshing.

We’ll see how things work out. Should be an interesting competition. Maybe both will win.

Do you really find Musk that annoying? I can easily see why some people think he’s a jerk, but you’ve gotta admit, he’s got a lot of green to back it up. Jerks like that don’t get free handouts, at least not of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Funny thing tho, it seems everywhere Elon Musk turn’s he’s got to compete against us Ruskis. Until now I had no idea Orbital’s rocket was being powered by a derivative of the NK-33
