“Wayne Savage, a contracted project manager for the spaceport, said the state is expecting a final decision on an environmental study required by the Federal Aviation Administration to be released Dec. 15. He said the study — a key part of the licensing process —will be followed up with a final decision on the license.

“In addition, Savage said, the state is close to reaching a finalized agreement with Virgin Galactic, the proposed anchor tenant. He said Spaceport Authority Director Steve Landeene met in New York last week with officials from the company and ‘hammered out all but just the last couple of details.’

“‘The target right now is to have that reviewed by Virgin’s board by the 10th of December and have the final signature by the 15th of December,’ he said.”
