Stephen Colbert interviewed game developer and future millionaut Richard Garriott on Thursday night for his satirical “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central. The host had a telephone chat with Garriott, who was in Russia undergoing training for his upcoming flight to the International Space Station.
Colbert is sending a digitized version of his DNA to the space station aboard Garriott’s Soyuz flight. The comedian showed a box with the label Formula 4001: A Space Odysseed, supposedly a replica of the package that he sent to Garriott. The effort is part of something called Operation Immortality, which is sending digitized DNA to the station in case humanity is wiped out.
Colbert told Garriott to say that his quarantine began in 10 minutes if he was being held hostage by Russian mobsters. When the millionaut confirmed that was true, Colbert promised that someone was on his way to rescue him.
